Bethlehem Plowboys 7 Litchfield Cowboys 5
Jake Torrence making his debut start in the Tri-State Baseball League went the distance on the mound picking up the win as Bethlehem held off Litchfield 7-5. Joe Fainer hit a grand slam and Mike Chiovitti added a two-run shot to pace the Plow in the victory.
Amenia Monarchs 4 Tribury Twisters 1
The Monarchs got back to .500 with a 4-1 win over the Tribury Twisters at Bucks Hill Park Thursday night. The Monarchs scored two in the top of the 1st with a 2RBI single by Will Perotti. Perotti would add another RBI in the 5th for Amenia leading the team offensively going 2-3 with 2 singles and 3RBI’s. Mckenzie Dunlop picked up the win for Amenia allowing only 3 hits thru 5 innings giving up just 1 earned run while striking out 7. Monarchs finally get a home game this Saturday June 9 against East Mountain.
Valley Thunder 8 Canton Crushers 1
The Valley Thunder improved there record to 3-2 behind a dominate performance by Tyler Pelletier going the distance striking out 4 allowing 1 hit and only walking 2. Tyler also went 2-3 with an RBI. The Valley Thunder collected 13 hits as a team… Ben Sullivan for the crushers went 1-3 getting the one hit.
Burlington Hunters 7 East Mountain Cougars 3
East Moutain and Burlington took the field, both looking for their first wins of the young season. What a nail biter until the top of the 4th inning when Burlington’s Zack Parent broke the game open with a bases clearing 2 out Triple. Ty Morin took the mound for the Hunters and limited the Cougars to 1 run on 6 hits who also extended his hitting streak to 2 games. Even though Steven Caruso botched a fly ball in the bottom of the 7th, Anthony Zumstag was able to close the game out for the Hunters. Hunter Legends Cody Steinberg and Jay Pelletier did a great job coaching the bases for the Hunters. For the Cougars, Matt DeLucia was a perfect 3-3 at the plate with a run scored and Adrian Rivera was 2-3 with a run scored. AJ Petrillo made a few beautiful plays in centerfield for the Cougars. Burlington picks up their first win!
Winsted Whalers 4 Torrington Rebels 3
The Whalers defeated the Rebels 4-3 Thursday afternoon at Walker field in Winsted. Devin Warren threw 7 innings for the Whalers spreading out 3 hits to earn the W. Torrington scored 3 runs in the top of the 6th to break open the pitchers duel. TJ Yousefzadeh had 1 hit and scored. Chris Beck had one hit, two RBI and scored a run. Ramon Santiago also scored for the Rebels. Winsted was led at the plate by TJ Kent- 2 doubles and a run scored and Ricky Langer- 2 hits, 2 RBI and a run scored.
Blasius Chevrolet 5 Southington 66ers 3
11 innings Final score Blasius defeated Southington Thursday night in a game that went 11 innings. JOsh Dobratz opened up the offense in the 4th with a two run homerun over the right field wall. Blasius chipped away in the 5th with a solo shot by Lou Seranno. In the 6th, Steve Carosella lead off with a single, advancing to third on a single by Paul Novakowski. Steve Carosella scored the tying run with a sac fly by Jon Conlon. The score remained tied at 2 until the top of the 11th when Carosella and Novakowski reached base safely. Jon Conlon singled to right scoring Carosella and JUstin McCullouch singled to left moving Novakowski to third. Eric Rovinitti came up and singled up the middle scoring the second run of the inning. An additional run was tacked on to make the score 5-2. Southington tacked on 1 run the bottom half but it wasn’t enough to push ahead. Ben Schumacher threw 7 innings striking out 11. Gary Novakowski came in relief striking out 2 in 2 innings and 2018 hall of fame inductee Mark Didominzio, was called out of retirement, came in for the final two innings – getting the win. Great game by both teams. Blasius is back at it Sunday vs Valley Thunder at the hotch..

Naugatuck Dogs 15 Wolcott Scrappers 0
Kevin Murray pitched 5 scoreless innings allowing 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 3 to lead Naugy to a 15-0 win over Wolcott at Rotary Field. The Dogs were led by Ryan Plourde (1-2 3B, 3 RBI, BB, HBP) and Trent Levi (2-2 HR, 3 RBI). Mike Perugini singled for Wolcott.

Bristol Greeners 3 Wolcott Scrappers 1
The Bristol Greeners defeated the Wolcott Scrappers 3-1 behind the arm, bat and glove of Brad Burney. Burney pitched a complete game, giving up an unearned run on three hits with seven strikeouts. Burney also broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a two-out, two-run single to left field, and made a diving catch on a bunt attempt to start a double play in the fifth. For Wolcott, Mike Vaccarelli doubled and TJ Williams had two hits.
