Game recap coming…

Bethlehem Plowboys 6 Twisters 1

Plowboys win 6-1, Sam Williams got the W going 5 strong, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 4. Ty Ericson met his playoff requirements closing down his 5th game of the year to shut the door for Bethlehem. The plow bats stayed hot as Jon Wilson was 4-4 with 3 runs scored and 4 stolen bases to keep things moving while Matt Mancini and Greg Campbell added 2 hits a piece and Ricky Descoteaux added 2 RBIs on the day as well. The Twisters tried to get things going early as Jimmy Lamanna was able to lace an rbi double in the top of the first but Torrington was only able to muster 3 hits the rest of the game thanks to the stellar performances of Ericson and Williams.

Amenia Monarchs 4 Winsted Whalers 1

The Monarchs would add another win to their record Thursday night beating old league rival Winsted 4-1 at Doc Bartlett Field in Amenia. Amenia would start Nick Reilly on the mound who hasn’t pitch since the distance was 45’! Reilly would throw 3 innings giving up no runs and only 2 hits to an always tough Whalers lineup. Amenia would score 4 in the 1st, then great pitching and defense from both teams would takeover for most of  the last 6 innings with Amenia’s Colby Dunlop pitching the last 4 giving up no hits and 1 unearned run. Amenia was led offensively by Will “Not Bill” Perotti collecting 2 of Amenias 7 hits and 2 RBI’s. Towards the end of the game a strange noise was starting to echo over Doc Bartlett field.  Amenia’s coach was unsure if it was their elder scorekeeper, Mike “Old Man Jenkins” Bates needing an Ensure to keep him going? Was it Amenia’s long fabled Chupacabra? Or was it the sound of The Whale? Highlight of the game was watching long time rival/friends Ricky Langer and Tom Downey’s sons compete for foul balls! Always a pleasure playing the Winsted guys!!
