Terryville clinches playoff spot; all 12 seeds set

Terryville Black Sox 7, Naugatuck Dogs 1: Terryville clinched a berth in the 12-team playoffs with a convincing win over Naugatuck, which just came off of a championship victory of its own in the Stan Musial state tournament Monday night.
Andrew Tremble went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Black Sox, who finish at 9-9. Terryville earned the No. 8 seed in the playoffs and will host the ninth-seeded Bethlehem Plowboys Saturday at noon at the Old Terryville High School. Dan Vaccaro tripled, singled and drove in a run while Jim Mischke added a double and run batted in. Tyler Wenz picked up the win for the Black Sox.
Ken Graveline homered and doubled for Naugatuck (9-9). The Dogs are the No. 7 seed in the playoffs.
TRI-STATE PLAYOFF SEEDS
With the completion of the regular season Tuesday evening, the seeds are set for the playoffs.
The double-elimination tournament begins Saturday with four games, all of which are scheduled for noon. The No. 12 Thomaston Threshers travel to Deland Field to take on the No. 5 Watertown Blaze. The No. 6 Bristol Greeners host the No. 11 Amenia Monarchs at Bristol Central High School while the No. 10 Torrington Rebels travel to Naugatuck High School to take on the No. 7 Naugatuck Dogs. The No. 8 Terryville Black Sox play at Old Terryville High School against the No. 9 Bethlehem Plowboys.
The winners advance to play Sunday. The Watertown/Thomaston winner plays the No. 4 Waterbury Wild at 1 p.m. at Waterville Park. The winner of the Bristol/Amenia game gets the No. 3 Wolcott Scrappers at 6 p.m. at the BAW Complex in Wolcott. The second-seeded Tri-Town Trojans will get the winner of Naugatuck/Torrington at Community Field at noon while the top-seeded Litchfield Cowboys will host the Terryville/Bethlehem winner at Litchfield High School at 10 a.m.
The losers from Saturday’s games will play in elimination games on Saturday, Aug. 13.
