Winsted Whalers 7 East Mountain Cougars 1
Sunday morning Winsted Whalers defeat the East Mountain Cougars 7-1. Winsted benefited from a solid 7 innings of no hit, shut out baseball by Austin Brochu. Brochu struck out 5.Ben Schumacher worked the 8th and 9th in relief also throwing no hit baseball. The Cougars came alive in the top of the 9th inning taking advantage of walks and errors to score 1 and load the bases. Ben Schumacher settled down and worked his way out of the jam to stop the Cougar comeback. The Whalers were lead at the plate by Ricky Langer (2 for 3, BB), Al Struzinski (1 for 3, 2BB, R) and Brandon Alberta (1 for 4, 2R).
The Whalers are in action again at Walker field vs the Canton Crushers on Friday, June 3rd at 5:45pm. The Cougars play again on Friday, June 3rd at 5:45pm vs the Valley Thunder at Crosby High School.
Watertown Blaze 6 Bethlehem Plowboys 5
The Watertown Blaze won an exciting 6-5 game over the Bethlehem Plowboys at Gallop Field. Manny Cruz led the 13 hit attack with 3 hits including a 2 run home run and Garrett De Lotto added a 3 run home run and double. Bethlehem loaded the bases with 2 outs in the 9th but Brooks Belter was able to work out of the jam. Tony Geraci led the plowboys with 3 hits.
Torrington Rebels 3 Wolcott Scrappers 2
The Torrington Rebels improved to 3-0 Sunday night beating the Wolcott Scrappers 3-2. Dan Livingston picked up his second win going all nine innings. The scored was tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the eight when Greg Bodnar (2-2, 2 RBI) launched a two run home run to go ahead. The Scrappers plated one in the ninth. Torrington takes on the Bristol Greeners Thursday 7:30 at Fuessenich Park. Wolcott is home on Friday hosting Bethlehem at 7:45pm at BAW Complex.
Tri-Town Trojans 5 Burlington Hunters 0
Miles Scribner started off the season strong for Trojans, pitching 7 innings with 10 K’s and 4 hits allowed. Shane Bierfeldt and Connor Murray came in and pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
On offense, Steve Price had an 2-RBI single while Shane Bierfeldt and Connor Murray both added two hits each. Landon Gardella also chipped in with a double.
Litchfield Cowboys 11 Canton Crushers 0
Cowboys win over Canton 11-0. Kevin Murray threw 8 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts. Victor Rodriguez went 2-5 with a home run. Andrew Gauvain was 4-6 with two doubles. Ed Pequignot and Steve Harrison also had multiple hits. James Cotton had a double for Canton.
Terryville Black Sox 15 Valley Thunder 2
Terryville continued its hot hitting to start the season collecting 15 runs on 19 hits. Leading the way was Zack Dandrea 3-5 2doubles and a 2 run homerun. Tyler Wenz had 2 run home run as well. Billy Armstrong now 2-0 threw 6inn of shut out baseball with 10k’s. Mark Meir from Valley went 3-3 with a 2run homerun for Valley.

Tribury Twisters 4 Thomaston Threshers 1
Ben Guisto went 7 innings giving up only one run for the win (now 1-0). Ben Brown closed the last 2 innings to bring the twisters their second win of the season. Zach Brown, Dom Mascolo, Brendan Bessette all had RBIs.
Naugatuck Dogs 12 Amenia Monarchs 0
Lance Stevens pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits while striking out 8 to lead Naugy to a 12-0 victory over Amenia at Doc Bartlett Field. The Dogs offense was led by Devin Murphy who went 3-4 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI’s. Kyle Murphy and Jeff Rustico each homered for Naugy. Ken Shufelt singled for Amenia.
