Burlington Hunters 9 Tribury Twisters 8
The Burlington Hunters picked up their first win of the season Sunday against the Tribury Twisters. Burlington took the lead right away in the first inning with a clutch single by Justen Rodriguez. Undeterred, Tribury fought back scoring 3 runs in the third, and another 4 runs in the fourth with two hits from Nate Zappone and a RBI double from Don Mascolo. Tribury picked up an additional run in the 8th to try and close the game out, but Burlington came back strong in the bottom of the ninth, stringing together 5 hits and 7 runs for a walk off the field win. Zack Martin collected the game winning RBI. Steve Caruso and Justen Rodriguez had three-hit outings for Burlington while Nate Zappone, Ben Brown, and Jude Quadrato had two-hit days for Tribury. Alex Stackpole picked up 7 strikeouts on the mound for Burlington, but newcomer Cody Steinberg picks up the win. Tribury falls to 2-2 with the loss and Burlington advances to 1-5.
Southington 66ers 9 Canton Crushers 4
Southington was led at the plate by Josh Dobratz (triple and single), Pat Smith (2 singles, 2 RBI), Tim Jalbert (RBI double), Brian Boerner (double, single, 2 RBI), Dave Randazzo (2-run single), Carm Perugini (RBI single). Brian Boerner picked up the win in relief. For Canton, Tom Dubois and Sean Bahre had singles.
Terryville Black Sox 3 Winsted Whalers 1
Kyle McLean went 2-4 and Billy Armstrong 2-5 as the Black Sox held on to beat the Whalers 3-1. Dave Alarcon gets the win tossing 5 innings allowing 3 hits and 1 run to go with 5 strikeouts. Justin Levetore had a base hit and scored the lone run for Winsted. Ben Schumacher took the tough loss striking out eight.
Naugatuck Dogs 11 Bristol Greeners 2
Jeff Sturm pitched 7 innings allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 5 to pick up the win for Naugy. The Dogs were led by Ryan Plourde 3-3 2B, 2 singles, and reached base 5 times. Macky Cianciolo had two hits and an RBI. Devin Murphy had a RBI double, run scored. Kyle Murphy also had a single and double. Brendan Slattery had two RBIs for the Dogs. Reed Roberge had 3 hits including a home run and double for Bristol.
Bethlehem Plowboys 3 Wolcott Scrappers 1
Shea Dooley pitched a complete game 3 hitter allowing 1 earned and striking out 7. Jesse Vermeech also pitched a complete game allowing 3 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 5. Kevin McDonnell went 2-4 with a HR and and 2 rbis and Teddy Gravel went 3-4, and Greg Campbell went 1-3 with a RBI.
Blasius Chevrolet 10 Valley Thunder 3
Blasius Chevrolet defeated Valley Thunder 10-3 late Sunday afternoon. Blasius Chevy’s offense was led by Dwight Wildman and Phil Wilhemy, each with three hits. Jeff Fonti, Gary Novakowski and Phil Wilhemy all tallyied 2 RBI’s a piece. Joe Serafin tossed 6 solid innings with 11 k’s, 0 walks and 2 earned runs. Valley Thunder was led by Matt Mieir going 2-3 with 2 RBI’s. Blasius Chevy imporved their record to 4-3 and Valley Thunder falls to 1-4.
Watertown Blaze 12 Torrington Rebels 1
The Watertown Blaze improved to 7-0 on the season with a 12-1 victory over the Torrington Rebels. Zach Albin and Tony Patane combined to strike out 10 and scatter 5 hits. Nick DeLotto had a 2-run home run while Conor McEvoy, Chris Ayer, Christian Callahan, Chris Comeau and Matt Calzone all added 2 hits a piece. Austin Pattenaude had 2 hits for Torrington.
