Winsted 4, Brass City 2
Danny Crossman pitched a one-hitter Sunday to lead the Winsted Whalers to a 4-2 win over the Brass City Brew at Walker Field on opening day for the Tri-State Baseball League.  Crossman struck out seven and walked five to notch the win.  Justin Levetre had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs to pace the Winsted offense.  Ricky Langer also had two hits, including a double, and drove in one run for the Whalers.  Mark Didominzio went six innings to take the loss for Brass City while Paul Novakowski went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Mazda Dodge 8, Farmingbury 6
Mike Cavalllo was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Mazda Dodge to the win at Thomaston High School.  Mike M’Sadoques notched the win, striking out eight over six innings before giving way to DJ Dyer.  Adam Rouk took the loss.  Spencer Griffin led the Farmingbury offense with two hits, including a double.
Burlington 3, Tri-Town 1
Back-to-back doubles in the fifth inning from Jimmy Spirito (2-3 RBI) and Rob Paul helped propel the Hunters to the win in Burlington to take a 3-0 lead through 5 innings.  The Hunters added a run on a bases-loaded error in the fifth and also got a run in the first inning when Justin Campbell scored on a wild pitch.  John Mittica went eight innings to notch the win, allowing four hits while striking out five and walking one.  Ian Sullivan pitched the ninth to earn the save.  Wayne Brewington suffered the loss, allowing just one unearned run while giving up four hits over six innings. Tri-Town scored its run on a sacrifice fly by Dan Valentine in the ninth.
Torrington 7, Amenia 2
Brandon Cordani struck out 12 over seven innings to lead the Rebels at Fuessenich Park.  Cordani gave up five hits and one run en route to the win.  Jay Lovato drove in three runs to lead the Torrington offense.  Jay Wetherall added two hits and 2 RBI while Darrin Gould chipped in with a pair of hits.  The Rebels exploded for five runs in the sixth to open a 6-0 lead.
Wolcott 7, Tribury 2
Omar Taveras settled down after allowing a pair of runs in the first inning as Wolcott scored seven unanswered runs at the BAW Complex in Wolcott.  Taveras allowed just five hits, three after the first inning, and struck out 12 over seven innings.  Erich Stewart was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the Wolcott offense.  Alex Narus added an RBI double while Ryan Soucy was 1-for-3, scoring two runs.  Craig Prasauckas paced Tribury with a two-run double in the first inning.  Eric Peck went seven innings to take the loss.
Waterbury 9, Thomaston 4
The Wild were led by Fraz Kader (Post university), who drove in five runs with three hits, including a triple and an inside-the-park homer.  Starting pitcher Greg Romer (Post university) went six innings, allowing two runs with six strikeouts, three hits and five walks.  He helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 at the plate with 2 RBI.  Dan McKenna also had a triple for the Wild.
Bethlehem 7, Litchfield 0
Rob Geraci and Sam Iverson combined on a shutout with Geraci pitching the first seven innings as the host Plowboys blanked the visisting Cowboys in opening day action of the Tri-State league at Gallup Field.  Tony Geraci and Bobby McMahon had a double and single while Eric O’Toole added two hits for Bethlehem.  Rob Sinoric had two hits for Litchfield.
