WATERBURY, Conn. – Post Universirty rising senior third baseman Corey Huffine ( Colorado Springs , Colo. /McCook C.C.) will play summer ball for the Torrington Twisters of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). Huffine, who also plays for the Burlington Hunters in the Tri-State League, will make his NECBL debut on Friday, June 6, as the Twisters travel to North Adams, Mass. to face the North Adams SteepleCats. “This is a wonderful opportunity for Corey to be able to play against some of the best this country has to offer,” Post Head Coach AJ McNamara said. “He is carrying the torch as the lone CACC representative and I can’t think of any other player who is more perfect for this role in terms of talent, professionalism, enthusiasm, and attitude. I am so proud of him for being the ambassador for not only Post University , but for the entire conference as well.”

In his first year with the Green and White, this past season, Huffine garnered first-team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) honors. The third baseman led the conference with 63 hits, as he batted .333 with one home run and 24 runs batted in. Huffine also led the team with 12 doubles, 12 steals and 80 total bases. “I think Corey will do a very good job there,” McNamara added. “He’s the perfect ‘small-ball’ player. He handles the bat well, doesn’t strike out often, runs well, can hit for both average and power, and can bunt. When used right, he can be an exciting ballplayer, even at this caliber level.” Huffine also scored 35 runs, had 14 multi-hit games, five multi-RBI games, and had an 11-game hitting streak from April 6-19. Huffine batted .329 with 24 runs scored, 48 hits, eight doubles, a triple, 19 runs batted in, and 58 total bases, this past season in 37 wood-bat games. This past season the Division II Northeast Region switched to wood bats during the regular season. Post played 37 of its 50 games during the year with wood.
