Wolcott 2, All-Star Batting 0
Sam Iverson threw a complete-game, four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts as the Wolcott Scrappers knocked off the defending state champion, All-Star Batting of Danbury, 2-0, on Thursday night at Danbury High in the first round of the Stan Musial state tournament.  Ryan Soucy had a two-run double in the fifth inning to produce the Scrappers’ runs. Steve Bernier had two hits, and Tony Geraci had a hit, a stolen base and scored a run.  The Scrappers will play Fedell’s in the second round tonight at 7 at Trumbull High.
Fedell’s 3, Brass City 2
The Brew scored runs in the sixth and seventh innings to tie the game at 2-2, but Fedell’s scored on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth at Bucks Hill Park.  Mike Padovani had an RBI groundout in the sixth to tie the game at 1-1, and Matt Wahl’s sac-fly in the seventh deadlocked the score at 2-2.  Brass City had six hits total.  Brew starter Sean Keegan allowed two earned runs and six hits while striking out five.
Marissa’s 5, Tribury 4
Eric Ondy’s one-out, bases-loaded single drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning and spoiled a comeback by Tribury earlier in the inning.  With two outs in the top of the seventh, Jamie Kimberly hit a three-run pinch-hit homer to put the Turkey Vultures in front, 4-3.  Jordan Kershaw had two hits and scored a run for Tribury, which will play the Bethel Outlaws at Bethel High School tonight at 8.
