Torrington’s Greg Bodnar punched out a two-run single in the third inning to push the Rebels past Thomaston, 5-4, for the Threshers’ first loss of the Tri-State season. Dave Alexander (2-for-3, RBI, run scored) was another big stick for Torrington. Brandon Cordani (5 innings) and Austin Poucher (0 hits in two innings) worked the Rebel mound.
Scott Bellemare and Nick Urso (2-for-3, RBI) doubled for the Threshers; Tim Collins was 2-for-3, with an RBI and a run scored. Both teams are now 2-1.
Watertown Blaze  3   Tri-Town Trojans  1

Watertown’s Jay Spear (6 strikeouts) held Tri-Town to three hits, including two infield singles at Deland Field Thursday evening. Chris Comeau popped the Blaze’s big hit in the second inning — a two-run single with the bases loaded. Dan McCarty doubled for the Trojans. Tri-Town is 2-2; Watertown is 2-0.
Waterbury Wild 4    Lakeville Outlaws 2

Waterbury was led by reliever Nick Boucher, who pitched four innings, allowing just one hit and Kevin Romero, with an RBI single and run scored. Lakeville was led by Tico Arciniejra with two hits and an RBI. J. Navarro allowed only just one hit in his four innings on the mound. Waterbury is 2-2; Lakeville is 0-3.
Wolcott Scrappers 1   Terryville Black Sox 0

Ismael Bolorin doubled and scored on an error in the first inning of a Tri-State game at Wolcott Thursday evening. After that, it was nothing but pure pitching between Wolcott’s Zach Sehnal (2 hits, 10 strikeouts, 1 walk) and Terryville’s Tyler Wenz (one hit, 7 strikeouts, 1 walk). The Scrappers are 3-0; Terryville is 0-3.
Burlington Hunters  1   Winsted Whalers  0

In a classic pitchers’ duel at Walker Field in Winsted, Burlington’s Andrew Bunger came out on top. Bunger threw just 77 pitches in a four-hit shutout of the Whalers on Thursday, striking out four while walking none. Dan Connelly pitched very well for Winsted, tossing a five-hitter with six K’s. The lone run of the game came on a bases-loaded, double-play ground ball by Adam Peters, scoring Brett Johnson in the third. Sean Shanley had two hits for Burlington.
Brass City Brew  8   Prospect Homers  1
After 2 rough starts to the year, the Brass City Brew earned their first win of the season against the Prospect Homers at Bucks Hill Park 8:30 Thursday night.  Brass City jumped out quick with a 5 run bottom of the first.  After a lead off double by Brass City’s Mike Veronneau, Steve Carosella drove in the first of 5 runs on a rbi single.  A few batters later, with the bases loaded, Mike Padovani hit a sreamer to deep center for a 3 rbi base clearing double.  Brass City would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the 5th with back to back hits on a rbi double by Justin McCulloch and a 2 rbi single by Eric Rovinetti.  Eric Gormley pitched a solid outing for the win.  Bob Wright drove in the only Homers run on a rbi single in the top of the 5th.

Naugatuck Dogs  10   Amenia Monarchs  0
Ken Graveline pitched a complete game shutout striking out 10 while scattering two hits and giving up three walks. The dogs struck early scoring 5 in the first and another 3 in the second.  Macky Cianciolo (3-4, 3B, 2R, 4 RBI) had three hits driving in four.  Ken Graveline (2-3 R, 2B, 3 RBI) helped his own cause driving in two runs. Andrew Wolinski (1-2) added a double for Amenia.
