Winsted gets first victory of the season as they defeated Southington 5-2 in some pre-Father’s Day Tristate action Saturday, June 15th. Winsted pitchers Devin Warren and Robert Weiss combined for a strong outing spreading 5 hits, 3 walks and two runs over 7 innings. Winsted was led at the plate by; Johnny Lippincott: 2-3, 2R Johnny Ambrozatis: 1-2, RBI TJ Kent: 1-3, 2RBI Pat Raymond, Joe Daigle, Tyler Fernandez, Adriano Moura and Dave Randazzo each had a hit for Southington.

Bristol Greeners 4   Valley Thunder 3

The Bristol Greeners picked up their first win of the season in exciting fashion as they walked off 4-3 against the Valley Thunder. Following a booming double by Tyler Ropp and a perfectly executed bunt single by Zach Bartolome, Jerry LaPenta lined his fourth hit of the day into center field to score Ropp and win the game. LaPenta also pitched a complete game on the mound to get the win, striking out 8. For Bristol, Bartolome and Brandon Porrier each had 2-hit games. Donny Eck, Joevi Torres, Shane Fusco and Kyle Diddons had 2 hits apiece for Valley Thunder, while Pat Romano had 7 K’s in a tough loss.

Wolcott Scrappers 7    Torrington Rebels 1

Wolcott scrappers pitchers Tyler Smith , Isaiah Negretti and Alan Stinson combined a 4 hitter with 18 K’s to lead Wolcott over Torrington 7-1. Wolcott got on the board early in the 1st after a triple by Matt Warren and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jack Drewry. After 2 outs In the 4th Wolcott connected and had back to back to back dbles by Brenden Clark , Jeff Nicol and Jesus Garcia , single by Ike Negretti and another dble by Alan Stinson. Wolcott had 11 hits being led by Jesus Garcia who had 3 dbles 1 rbi and 2 runs scored , 2 hits by Jeff Nicol who singled and dbled scored 1 and had 3 rbi and 2 hits by Matt Warren who tripled and singled and scored once. For Torrington their lone run came on a solo homerun Jimmy Lamana in the 9th inning .

Terryville Black Sox 2   Naugatuck Dogs 0

Three Blacksox pitchers combine to no hit the Naugy dogs for their second no hitter of the season on the way to a 2-0 victory. Kody Kerski, Jared Gallagher and Mike Kreiger combined to strike out 10 in the effort. The Sox were led offensively by Tony Patane who had 2 hits including a 2 run home run after Kyle Tehan led off the inning with a hit by pitch.

Litchfield Cowboys 11   Canton Crushers 4

Litchfield continues their lukewarm win streak with an 11-4 win over the Crushers. Litchfield got on the board first in the second with a leadoff double by Steve “the Queen” Harrison (4-5 2r 1rbi), an rbi triple by Brooks “grandpa” Belter and rbi ground ball by Kellen “Humbabe” Parkinson. The Cowboys tacked on at least one run for the next 4 innings to extend their lead to 9-3 by end of the 6th with rbis by Drew Gauvain (3-5 2r 3rbi), Edwin Pequignot (2-6 1r 2rbi), and Dustyn Marfyak (0-3 r rbi). That’s all that was needed for Justin Koutros who threw the Cowboys first complete game of the season going 9 striking out 9 walking 3 and giving up 2 earned runs. For canton, Ben Sullivan, James Michanczyk, and Andrew Tremley all collected 2 hits. Next game for the cowboys will be Thursday against Tribury.
