Southington 66ers 6    Winsted Whalers 2

Pat Smith with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI and Joe Daigle with a double, single, two runs scored and two RBI backed the pitching of Patrick Raymond as the 66ers defeated the Whalers 6 – 2 Saturday at Recreation Park in Southington. CJ Vasquez chipped in with two hits and an RBI, Nick Yousefzadeh added a double and run scored, Tyler Fernandes had a timely RBI, and Dave Randazzo added a single for Southington. Raymond pitched a complete game with 6 strikeouts. Smith’s defensive gem in right field saved two runs in the fifth inning. For the Whalers, Andrew Billis had two doubles, TJ Kent a double, Rick Langer a double and a sacrifice fly RBI, Mitch Gryniuk and Matt DeMartino two hits, Justin Lovetere a single, and Chester Warner an RBI.

Amenia Monarchs 5    Bristol Greeners 2

The Monarchs were able to pick up the win in the first game 5-2 behind a strong pitching performance by Travis Hyatt. The old Vet went the distance giving up just 5 hits and 1 earned run. The Monarchs were led by Big Ken Shufelt, 2-3 2RBI and Leshawn “Lee Lee” Thrasher going 3-3 with 1 RBI.

Amenia Monarchs 6    Bristol Greeners 3

Game 2 of the double header saw Amenia’s Willy “Let’s GO” Perotti stepping on the bump for the first time this season. He almost went the distance coming out after 3 batters faced in the 7th. Perotti got the job done picking up the win giving up 5 hits and 3 earned runs. Amenia’s offense would get it going a little in game 2 collecting 13 hits overall. Big Ken Shufelt kept his day going with a couple of hits finishing game 2 2-3 with an RBI. Chris Reed, Andrew “Pandy Bear” Thrasher, and Tom “Scoot” Downey added two hits apiece with Downey and Hunter Goodacre hitting triples. Going into the bottom of the 7th the score was 6-1. With the Bases loaded and no outs Chris “Crispy” Reed would come in relief for Perotti, making his first appearance of the season and getting the job done. Final Score 6-3 in favor of the Monarchs.

Northwest Orioles 9   Canton Crushers 0

In the first game of a doubleheader, Anthony Lupiani threw a complete game shoutout, allowing 4 hits and 4 walks while striking out 3. Spencer Cookson led the offense with 2 hits, 2 runs including an RBI triple. For Canton Jeff Mulhall had 2 of the 4 hits.

Canton took game 2 to after losing game one to split a double header at Bowdoin Field Jimmy Spirito pitched a complete game beating the Orioles 8-7 despite a rough day in the field for Crusher defense.
