Torrington Rebels 7 Winsted Whalers 4
The Torrington Rebels beat the Winsted Whalers 7-4 in a classic 10 inning game. The Rebels opened the game with an early first inning run, only to watch as the Whalers came back with four runs of their own, two coming off the veteran bat of Charlie Putnam. That was all Rebels ace Chris Greatorex would allow, going 10 innings to pick up the gutsy win. Winsted’s Rich Wlodarczyk gave the Whalers 9 strong innings before allowing a bases loaded single in the 10th to Torrington’s Greg Bodnar (2-4, 4 RBI) putting the Rebels ahead. Lenyn Napoleon stayed hot at plate for the Rebels (2-3, 2B, 3B, 2 BB).
Burlington Hunters 7 Waterbury Cougars 4
The Burlington Hunters beat Waterbury Cougars Thursday evening 7-4. The Hunters led the battle with two runs in the second inning with RBI swings from Cody Steinberg and Joe Napolitano, but the Cougars answered back with three runs in the top of the third with hits from Dillon Oakes and AJ Petrillo. Undeterred, Burlington answered with two more runs in the third with a double from Alex Hansen, and three more runs in the fifth with hits from Ty Morin and Zach Parent. Waterbury battled back in the 6th with hits from Justin Proteau, Travis Markey, and Johnny DeLucia… But Ty Morin shut the door for Burlington. Burlington advances to 4-9 and Waterbury falls to 3-8. Alex Stackpole picks up the win for Burlington.
Watertown Blaze 7 Terryville Black Sox 2
Watertown improved to 13-0 with a 7-2 victory over the Terryville Black Sox. Charlie Benson went 6 innings allowing 1 unearned run while striking out 3. Tony Patane had 4 hits and an RBI, while Chris Ayer had 3 hits and 2 runs scored. Chris Comeau added 2 hits and 2 RBI and Conor McEvoy 2 hits and 2 runs scored. Christian Budzick and Jake Tehan each had 2 hits for Terryville.
Bethlehem Plowboys 10 Litchfield Cowboys 3
Pat O’Neill hurled a complete game victory for the Plowboys. Joe Fainer hit a 3-run home run and Matt Mancini had 3 hits and 4 RBI. Mike Odenwaelder homered for Litchfield.
Blasius Chevrolet 2 Southington 66ers 1
Blasius Chevrolet stings Southington in a 2-1 walk off at The Hotch. Team Blasius swarmed the bases in the bottom of the seventh in a tie game when Matt Wahl buzzed a soft liner over third base scoring Jay LaFontain for the win. Blasius was lead defensively by Jeff Fonti when, in the 6th inning, he swatted a ball out of mid air to make a spectacular play with the go ahead run on third. Gary Novakowski pitched 7 innings with 6 strikeouts to get the win. Blasius looks to keep the streak going with two games this weekend. Naugatuck Dogs 4 Wolcott Scrappers 1
Kevin Murray pitched 8 innings allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out 7 to lead Naugy to a 4-1 victory over Wolcott. Devin Murphy got the Dogs on the board with a solo home run in the 2nd inning. Wolcott tied the game in the bottom of the 6th on a Mike Vaccarelli sac fly. Jeff Sturm broke the 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the top of the 8th inning. Justin Kutros pitched a complete game for Wolcott allowing 7 hits and striking out 10.
Canton Crushers 5 Valley Thunder 4

The Canton Crushers baseball team battled back from a four-run deficit to earn their third victory of the season with a 5-4 win in eight innings over the Valley Thunder squad from Bethany on Thursday night at Bowdoin Field in Tri-State League play. Canton (3-10) snapped a seven-game losing streak with the victory.
Tied at 4-4, Canton’s Jake Bryant singled with one out in the eighth inning. He moved to third base on double from pitcher Taylor Riley. Bryant scored on Heath Cotton’s RBI single, the game-winning hit for the Crushers. Valley (1-10) was led by Pelletier, who was 2-for-4 and Kyle Dadonna, who was 2-for-3. The Thunder led 4-0 after two innings but Canton didn’t panic. In the second inning, Jon Scippa singled with two outs and moved to second base after Chris Van deBogart got a walk. Both scored on a two-RBI single from catcher Jeff Mulhall. Canton tied the game in the fourth inning. With one out, Cotton walked and he moved to second base on a single from Van deBogart. Both scored on a two-RBI single from Mulhall, who finished 2-for-3 with four RBI and a double. Sean Bahre also had two hits for Canton. On the mound, Riley scattered eight hits and struck out seven to pick up his third victory of the season. Former Crusher Spenser Griffin had a RBI sacrifice fly for Valley in the first inning while Nick Forriono doubled. The Crushers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Crosby High in Waterbury to take on East Mountain (3-7) at 1 p.m. On Sunday, the Crushers travel to Amenia, N.Y., to take on the Monarchs (7-4).
Wednesday July 5
Tri-Town Trojans 5 Bristol Greeners 2
The Trojans got out to an early lead against Bristol in the first and never looked back. Connor Murray took the first pitch of the game over the left field fence for a home run and the Trojans followed up with three more runs in the first with timely hitting by Steve Price (3-4, 2 2Bs) and Joe Bunnell. Bobby Chatfield started the game for the Trojans throwing 3 innings giving up 0 hits with 1 K. Jordie Scheiner throw the next 3 innings giving up 3 hits while adding 2Ks. Dan Livingston picked up the save for the Trojans ( K, 0 hits). Bristols offense was led by Bush with a single and double at the plate.
