Wolcott Scrappers 7 Canton Crushers 1
Tyler Smith threw a complete game allowing five hits, an unearned run while striking out seven to lead Wolcott. Eric Soucy had a two RBI single, while Mike Perugini, Mike Vaccarelli and Jesus Garcia had an RBI each. Ben Sullivan double and had an RBI for Canton. Wolcott improves to 2-0.
Blasius Chevrolet 13 Bristol Greeners 4
Ben Schumacher led the Blasius Chevy team on the mound to its first win of the season defeating Bristol 13-4. Ben pitched five innings giving up only five hits and striking out three. Jay LaFontaine finished the last two innings striking out three and only allowing one hit. Offensively Blasius came out strong with twelve hits. Leading the charge was Jon Conlon with two hits, Paul Novakowski with two hits and Justin McCulloch with three hits. Bristol was lead by Mazzone going 2-5.
We would like to congratulate Ben on getting his first hit as a Blasius member. Mike Butkovic continued his 35 game hit streak which had a 9 year gap. Bristol Greeners 2 Burlington Hunters 1

The Bristol Greeners defeated the Burlington Hunters 2-1 in 7 innings on 5/24/18. Bristol’s Jerry LaPenta pitched a complete game with 8 strikeouts allowing only 2 hits and 1 unearned run in the 4th on an error. LaPenta is the pitcher credited with the win. For the Burlington Hunters Anthony Zumstag was the starting pitcher and pitched 4 innings and faced the first batter of the fifth. Anthony Zumstag gave up 1 run in the 3rd and 1 run in the 5th and allowed 4 hits. Nick Digmacco came in relief in the 5th and 6th innings for Burlington and had 6 strikeouts. In the bottom of the 5th inning Bristol’s Brad Burney led off the inning with a single to left off of Anthony Zumstag. Brad Burney stole second and got to third on a pass ball. Ben mazzone for the Bristol Greeners drove in Brad Burney with a 2 out single to give the Greeners the lead.
Southington 66ers 7 Bethlehem Plowboys 6
The Southington 66ers defeated the Bethlehem Plowboys 7 to 6 at Recreation Park in Southington on the strength of timely hitting throughout the order including Josh Dobratz’s two-out, walk-off, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the 66ers, John Mikalopas added a two-out, two-run single in the sixth inning, Brendon Emigholz had a two-out, two-run double in the fifth inning, Joe Daigle had 3 hits, Matt Santovasi doubled and scored, Patrick Raymond singled and scored twice, and Steve Roy singled and scored. Patrick Raymond got the win in relief and Zach Albin struck out 6 in 5 innings for Southington. For the Plowboys, Pat O’Neill struck out 4 and Tony Geraci singled and reached base 3 times.
Naugatuck Dogs 4 Litchfield Cowboys 2
Naugy beat Litchfield 4-2 at Rotary Field as Nick Plachno picked up the win in relief with 3 2/3 IP, one hit, two BB, two ER, and four K’s. The Dogs got on the board first with a Christian Cuevas 2 RBI single in the 4th scoring Jeff Rustico and Ryan Russell. Litchfield tied the game in the top of the 5th on a 2 RBI double by Stanley Rijo. Ryan Plourde led off the top of the 5th with a double and later scored on a sac fly from Devin Murphy. Kyle Murphy was 2-2 with 2 stolen bases and a run scored.
Amenia Monarchs 9 Winsted Whalers 6
The Monarchs opened up their season with a 9-6 win over Winsted. Picking up the win for Amenia was Tom Downey going 6 innings and giving up 4 earned runs and 9 hits. The Whalers were led by Austin Brochre, Rich (2-3), and Justin Morhardt(1-3, 2 runs scored). The Monarchs were led offensively by Tom Downey ( 3-4,2r,3RBI) Leshawn Thrasher(3-3,4r,1RBI) and Kenny Shufelt (3-3 1RBI).
Terryville Black Sox 3 East Mountain Cougars 1
The Black Sox squeaked out a hard fought 3-1 victory over the East Mountain Cougars behind another solid pitching performance. Kenny Kerski went 4 innings allowing 1 hit while striking out 9 before giving way to Billy Armstong who allowed 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 3, in 2 innings of work. Kody Kerski came in to shut the door in the 7th to pick up the save. Connor McEvoy had 2 hits to lead the offense. For East Mountain -Justin Proteau started and threw 4 solid innings. AJ Petrillo pitched 3 innings giving up 1 run with 3 strikeouts. Tylor Campbell with a sac fly RBI. Luke Shaffer went 2-3 with a double.
Tri-Town Trojans 1 Valley Thunder 0
The Trojans and Valley Thunder had a pitching duel on May 24th. Bobby Chatfield pitched 6 innings for the Trojans striking out 5. Chatfield only gave up 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 base on balls. Trojans manufactured their only run in the first inning with a lead off walk by Matt Troy. Troy went to second on a passed ball and went to third on a fly ball from Casey McDonald. Steve price hit a sac fly to center field to drive in Matt Troy. Dan Livingston came in on the bump in the 7th to hold down the save for the Trojans. Matt Meier went the distance for Valley Thunder striking out 4.

Ben Guisto went seven strong innings giving up only one run and Kevin Johnson had two hits, while driving in two runs
