Bristol Greeners  3    Lakeville Outlaws  0
Bristol improved to 4-5 on the season behind a strong pitching performance from right-hander Geoff Pierce. Pierce pitching six shutout innings for the Greeners, scattering just three hits and striking out 12. After allowing Lakeville’s leadoff batter Wellington Sosa to reach third base on an infield single and two stolen bases in the first inning, Pierce settled down to retire the next 11 batters he faced. Bristol scored its first run in the top of the first on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Pierce, allowing Steve Julius to score. Bristol put its other two runs on the board in the fifth with hits from Brendan Hayes and Ryan Dudzinski. Mike Methot picked up the save for the Greeners with two strikeouts in the seventh. Tyler Grant picked up the hard-luck loss for the Outlaws, allowing just one earned run and striking out 9 in a complete game effort.
Terryville Black Sox  3    Burlington Hunters  2
A fielding misplay on a sacrifice bunt cost the Hunters a close Tri-State game to the Black Sox. With Billy Armstrong on second base and nobody out in the bottom of the seventh of a 2-2 game, Gary Swierzinski laid down a bunt. Burlington pitcher Alex Hanson picked the ball up and threw to third, only to hit Armstrong in the head. The ball went out of play and Armstrong advanced home to give Terryville a 3-2 win. Joe Deming took the win for the Sox (3-5), striking out five in the complete game effort. Andrew Trembly laced an RBI double for Terryville, while Mike Morrison, Kevin LaRose, and Dave Baldyga each had a pair of hits. Sean Shanley had a double and Pat Flynn two hits for Burlington, which fell to 2-8.
